Well, this is the first blog not only of the site, but of my life as well. Weird. Really. Now to the good stuff. What you came here for. Maybe. God I hope so or what really is the point of all of this?
A couple of months ago I finished what will become my first book, When the Past Comes Back. Despite what those who have had the honor of reading the book have said, it is really a love story at the end of the day. The story itself is simple. A long time ago, in a city far, far away (Chicago), a young man ended a ten year career as a professional killer, and he ended it going out big. He was able to leave the job behind and get a fresh start, with a new name and a new lease on life. Fast forward thirty some odd years later, and our former hitman is now a teacher about ready for retirement. After an unfortunate event, a cop from his past is able to track him down. Instead of doing the right thing, the cop turns over the information to some really bad people that want some payback. The bad people go after the former bad man and his family. They fail miserably. The reformed bad man then has to fess up to his wife, and it does not go over real well. Like, at all. So, like all good men that have found themselves in this exact situation, think the guy from Die Hard or the guy from the Death Wish movies, he concludes that there is only one thing that he can do. He has to go back to Chicago and start killing people again. To save his wife. To save his marriage. I did mention that this was a love story right?
I have no idea how this whole thing is going to go. I simply want to sell a book to someone that is not my wife or my mom, and for that person to enjoy it. I'm not into it for the money, nor the fame. I enjoy a good story, and I have a few thousand running around in my head right now. I have someone editing the first four chapters for me right now, my dad reading on average a half a page a day, and two students have read it and have been blown away. Their words, not mine. My next blog, which I will do once summer vacation is here, I will be able to go over my writing process and how exactly I am going about the publishing of the book, which is not taking what is considered the traditional route. Further blogs will go over how well the whole 'I got a book published!' thing goes and on to my next writing endeavors, which I am currently framing three different books right now. All original and not a sequel to the current book.
Until next time. Stay word thirsty my friend.
